The Frome Football Partnership

Partnership

  Launch

"Promoting & Supporting Football For All Throughout Frome"

Frome Town, Frome Town Sports and Frome Town Ladies have all come together to try and promote, support, encourage and provide the opportunity for both males and females of all ages to get involved in grass roots football either by playing, working behind the scenes or supporting.

All three Clubs are intent on developing a set-up that will provide players from a young age the chance to play football to the highest level they can achieve.

Frome Town Sports runs teams from the age of 6 through to 18 along with three adults sides while Frome Town provide a senior Reserve Team who play in the Somerset County League & a First Team competition in the Western League Premier Division. Sports run an Under 18's team from Badgers Hill in the midweek Somerset Floodlit League. The Ladies side caters for girls to play football at a decent standard & all their first team games are played at Badgers Hill.

Colin Thurston of Frome Town Sports says of the partnership "Our aim is for a structure to be in place for children to play from the youngest age group & progress through to the Frome Town first team. Over the last few years we've seen some good players develop from this scheme in Simon Keates, Joe Gomes and Billy Robinson and more recently Jason Collier and Dean Evans. The more we can develop our own players will only be a boost to Andy Crabtree and Frome Town".

Sandy Whitton, Chairman of Frome Town Ladies, is also fully behind the scheme saying "This will certainly benefit the town of Frome in both girls and boys football. The Ladies have made a steady progression over the last few years and are now competing at a high standard. We still have a long way to go and link ups like this will help our own development through communication and learning from each other".

Chairman of Frome Town, Gavin Hares is as committed to this idea as everybody else, "Developing our own players in the town and pushing them on to play at a higher level and to enjoy their football is something we are all very keen to do. The more interest we can generate in all three Clubs the stronger the town becomes as a unit in football and with that comes stability".

The partnership was officially launched on Saturday 10th February 2007 before Frome Town's 2-1 win in the Toolstation Premier Division against Bitton by representatives from all three Clubs.
