After years of trying and heart-ache the Robins finally returned to the Western League Premier Division. The First Team were under new management following the departure of Simon White at the end of the previous season as Paul Thorpe took over as Player/Manager.

Thorpe's first act as boss was to bring in Matt Peters who has been released by Yeovil Town along with former Robins favourite Karl Diment.

During pre-season Frome's prolific striker Mark Salter went on trial to league side Southend United but was back in a Robins shirt for the start of the new season.

The campaign started on a positive note with a 2-1 away win at Elmore thanks to goals from Brad Peters and Salter bur results fell away quickly with defeats at Brislington (0-1), Bishop Sutton (0-4), Bridgwater Town (2-3) and Paulton Rovers (0-4).

After just ten games and seven more goals Southend United came calling again and this time Salter got his golden chance and was awarded a years professional contract.

The Robins had already been knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle with a 1-0 home defeat against Shortwood United and the FA Vase only lasted two matches with Frome easily beating Downton 4-2 but then lost 1-0 at home to Liskeard Athletic.

Fortunes continued to be mixed with a heavy defeat at Team Bath (0-6) followed by an excellent home win against Devizes Town (3-0).

The Somerset Premier Cup lasted just one game and it was a thriller as the Robins lost 3-2 at Southern League side Clevedon Town and the Les Phillips Cup saw a poor performance in a defeat at Welton Rovers (0-1).

As Frome's first season back in the top flight came to a close the Robins turned to a legendary Yeovil Town striker to help ensure Premier Division survival was secured with the signing of Mickey Spencer. His signing proved to be an inspired move by Thorpe as the experienced forward notched six goals in just nine games to see the side finish up in 11th spot.
