Calculating the ROI (Return on Investment) for a SmartMixer is not an easy task, as each possible customer will have a unique way of working, a unique product portfolio and a unique costing structure.
However, using the Batch
Calculation capability of the SmartMixer, it is possible to show cost saving examples for individual batches, produced at the wrong Fat % specification.
The two tables opposite are produced by the equations that the SmartMixer
uses to calculate each batch. Soured Cream has been chosen as an example, because it generally uses no concentrate, and is a mix of cream and skim.
Table 1 shows that 4,546.83 litres of 40% Cream would have been used to create
10,000 kgs of Soured Cream at the correct specification of 18% Fat and 25.4% Total Solids.
Table 2 shows that 5,052.04 litres of 40% Cream would have been used to create the same weight of Soured Cream.
Simple mathematics
shows that 505.21 litres of cream would have effectively been "given to the customer" in this one batch alone.
Assuming a cost of £1 per litre of cream, this obviously equates to £505.21
, which also means that 11.1% more cream was used than was necessary to achieve the correct specification.
